  • Govind Friedland

    Executive Chairman

    Govind Friedland is Founder and Executive Chairman of GoviEx Uranium Inc, and has more than 20 years of experience working internationally to finance, explore and develop strategic energy minerals critical for combating global air pollution. His career experience has focused primarily on nickel, copper and uranium. Mr. Friedland has served as the Executive Chairman of GoviEx since October 2012 and previously served as its Chief Executive Officer from June 2006 to October 2012. He also serves on the board of Lifezone Metals, which is a modern metals company creating value across the battery metals supply chain from resource to metals production and recycling. Mr. Friedland served on the board of directors at Cordoba Minerals Corp., which is developing the San Matias copper/gold complex north of Medellin, Colombia, and Sama Resources Inc., which is exploring the Samapleau nickel/copper project in Ivory Coast, West Africa. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Geology and Geological Engineering from Colorado School of Mines.

    Mr. Friedland possesses a unique multicultural background, having lived much of his life in Asia immersed in the mineral exploration industry. Mr. Friedland is also a founding shareholder of I-Pulse Inc., a private U.S. company that uses proprietary super capacitors and related technologies to address inefficiencies across a wide range of industries including mineral exploration, mineral processing, hydrocarbon EOR and geothermal drilling technology, water discovery, and large utility-scale batteries as well as advanced manufacturing. 

  • Daniel Major

    Chief Executive Officer

    Daniel Major is a mining engineer from the Camborne School of Mines in the UK. His career spans over 35 years in the mining industry where he has established a solid record of accomplishment initially with Rio Tinto at the Rossing Uranium Mine in Namibia and Amplats in South Africa, and later as a mining analyst with HSBC Plc and JP Morgan Chase & Co. in London. Next, Mr. Major was Chief Executive and later Non-Executive Chairman of Basic Element Mining and Resource Division in Russia, has and held leadership positions at several Canadian listed mining companies with exploration and producing assets in Canada, Russia and South America. Daniel joined GoviEx in 2012, as a director and as CEO, and has been responsible for the transition of the company from explorer to developer.

  • Lei Wang

    Chief Financial Officer

    Lei Wang, CPA, CGA, has been integrally involved in all areas of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, treasury, tax and corporate finance activities for both publicly traded resource companies and privately held companies. She joined GoviEx in August 2014 as Corporate Controller and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in December 2015.

    Prior to coming to Canada, Ms. Wang worked at Schlumberger in Aberdeen, Scotland and Glencore International in Beijing, China. Ms. Wang holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Qingdao University, China.

  • Rodrigo Romo

    Corporate Secretary

    Mr. Romo has over 20-years’ experience in the administration and management of publicly traded companies, in both the capacities of a Corporate and Securities Paralegal and as part of the management team as a Corporate Secretary. 

    Mr. Romo has served as the Corporate Secretary of GoviEx since 2015

    From 2012 to 2014, Mr. Romo was the Corporate Secretary of True Gold Mining Inc., which was subsequently acquired by Endeavour Mining.

    From 2009 to 2012, Mr. Romo was the Corporate Secretary of a number of the Lundin Group of Companies, namely, NGEx Resources Inc., Sirocco Mining Inc. (formerly, Atacama Minerals Corp.), Lucara Diamond Corp. and Fortress Minerals Corp. (now Lundin Gold Inc.)

    From 2001 to 2009, Mr. Romo was the Corporate Secretary and/or Securities and Corporate Paralegal for a number of the Lang Mining Group of Companies.

    Prior to joining Lang Mining, Mr. Romo was a Securities and Corporate Paralegal with a national business law firm.

    Mr. Romo is a graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s Financial Management (Professional Accounting) program (1993) and a graduate of Capilano University’s Institute of Paralegal Studies (2000).

    After graduating from BCIT in 1993, Mr. Romo worked in various management and administrative capacities for a plastic-manufacturing firm.  Additionally, Mr. Romo was Vice President of Esteban Management Corporation, a private company in the food and hospitality industry, where Mr. Romo’s responsibilities included the planning, construction and outfitting of a food-service business.  Later, as General Manager, Mr. Romo oversaw operations and human resource management of that same food-service business.

  • Chris Lewis

    Chief Uranium Marketing

    Mr. Lewis has 30 years’ experience managing the sale and marketing of uranium and nuclear fuel conversion services to nuclear fuel buyers in Europe, Asia and Americas. From 1992-2020, he worked in uranium marketing for BHP Billiton, Cameco and Uranium One, before joining GoviEx in 2021.

  • Jerome Randabel

    Chief Geologist

    Jerome Randabel is a graduate of the University of Adelaide, South Australia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours in geology. He has been a practicing geologist for the last 29 years, with the last 20 years specialising in the exploration and development of uranium deposits. He has worked on projects in Australia, Botswana, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the USA and was the Chief Mine Geologist at the Beverley Uranium Mine in Australia.

    Mr. Randabel has successfully completed numerous technical reviews of a number of projects in Bulgaria, Mongolia, Australia and Niger on behalf of various companies. He has worked in senior technical positions for several mid to small cap companies, as well as operating his own contract and consultancy service.

  • Isabel Vilela

    Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications

    Mrs Vilela heads Investor Relations and Corporate Communications for GoviEx. She is part of GoviEx’ Executive Team and is also responsible for leading Stakeholder Engagement and Community Development in GoviEx’s three projects; forming part of the team responsible for ESG strategy and implementation.
    Isabel has extensive experience in the mining, materials and renewables industries, having worked for Hochschild Mining plc, Cookson Group plc and Clipper Windpower plc. 
    Mrs Vilela is a member of the communications Group at the World Nuclear Association and is currently pursuing a Masters in Sustainable Development at University of Sussex.
